Former Manchester United and England midfielder Paul Scholes has been announced as the Evening Standard's newest columnist.

Scholes, who'll also write for the i Newspaper and The Independent, commented 'It's a privilege to be writing for these newspapers and to be sharing my views as all the drama unfolds. I can't wait for the season to start. As a player I always gave 100 per cent - and that's how I'm going to be as a columnist'.
